Spring break season is coming up! Cancun is the ultimate destination for spring break. Along with partying the night away, here are fun and adventurous activities to do on your Cancun girlfriend getaway!

Things To Do On Your Cancun Girlfriend Getaway | Traveling Petite GIrl

1. Play in the waves at the beach

A pretty obvious activity but one that never fails! The Cancun coastline is a long stretch of white sand with
turquoise waters. Since it’s on the east side, the winds blow the waves in so you get the joys of floating with the waves! If your hotel is the by the ocean, you’re in luck! If your hotel doesn’t have a beach, there are plenty of beautiful, public beaches. Our lakeside hotel, Laguna Suites Golf & Spa, didn’t have a beach but we were able to have access to the beach of its partner hotel, Sunset Royal.

2. snorkel in exotic coral reefs

Cancun is highly proud of its reefs and friendly fishes, which makes for countless snorkeling excursions. We went on our excursion through Xcaret, an eco-archeological park, which is an amazing park to go to if you want to experience nature, animals, food, and culture.

3. boost your adrenaline on a jet ski

Along the main road of the Cancun Hotel Zone, there were plenty of kiosks to buy tours. And it was also where we purchased our jet ski excursion! It was a 30-minute jet ski rental where we rode until we screamed and laugh our hearts out. It definitely boosts your adrenaline when you stand and go fast!

TIP: I highly suggest you book your tours through the kiosks in Cancun instead. If you book your tours online or through your hotel, you could end up paying 30-50% more than what you can bargain for at these kiosks. They are located all throughout the hotel zone and you can spot them by their signs.

4. Take a refreshing plunge into a cenote

There’s an abundance of cenotes in the Yucatan Peninsula. The Mayans believed it was a gateway to the underworld. Today, they are popular freshwater spots to jump in when you want a break from the heat. In the video, we went to Cenote Ik Kil. It’s part of the Chichen Itza tour, which is a tour to the famous Mayan Ruins. While it’s a popular and crowded tourist spot, Cenote Ik Kil is certainly beautiful. Take advantage of the refreshing water by jumping off the ledge!

TIP: If you want a less crowded cenote, they will be the ones that tourists don’t usually know about. Ask the locals where to go and how to get there. We went to Cenote Tamcach-Ha in Coba, which was a pitch black cenote only lit by a single light. It was so peaceful in comparison to Cenote Ik Kil!

5. Climb to the top of the mayan ruins

Put your stair master kills to the final test! In Cancun, you’ll find out that the Mayan ruins are located all around the Yucatan Peninsula. There is one group of ruins, in particular, where you are able to climb to the top: the Mayan ruins of Coba. There are more than 100 steps to climb but the view is well worth it. Getting to the top was much easier than I expected but it was going down the steps that had me worried. Luckily, there was rope that ran along the middle of the steps in case I slipped

TIP: Afraid of heights? Try sitting on the steps and move down each step one by one. It’s slower but you will get down much safer!

6. Cruise over the waters on a yacht

What better way to take celebrate your Cancun girlfriend getaway than by going all out on a yacht? We rented our yacht through Boat Cancun and they were amazing with their fast communication and amazing service. When we arrived at the Marina, they upgraded our rental to a larger yacht and an extra hour for free! How were 3 young women able to afford a yacht rental? Imagine how much it costs to rent a yacht for 2 hours (+1 hour free!) between 3 people. Very affordable! It was a fast 3 hours but we made the most of it! Half the time, we were taking photos and casting on Facebook Live because what’s the point with renting a yacht if you’re not going to share it?

7. Explore your taste buds on a taco tour

The taco tour was easily the highlight our food experiences! I’ve been to Cancun twice and I went on the same taco tour each time. That’s how good it was! It’s a casual walking tour in downtown Cancun so if you want to immerse yourself with the locals, this is the way to do it! The taco tour guides are also very informative about food and culture in Cancun, so if you have any questions, they are the best people to talk to!

TIP: Book your tour early on your trip so that you can go back to those taco spots whenever you want. And definitely, bring a big appetite and small bills for tips!

8. eat street side Marquesitas

Marquesitas is a street snack that’s unique to Cancun. It’s a crepe-like, cigar-shaped waffle, filled with Nutella – yum! and cheese – what? If that sounds strange to you, then it’s even more reason to give it a try! You will be pleasantly surprised and satisfied! Find it at the El Parque de las Palapas in downtown Cancun. If you’re on the taco tour, you will be taken to this spot for dessert!

9. Have a friend teach you salsa

There is no official way to go about this but the locals are very friendly. Get close enough and you can request they teach you how to dance salsa (as long as they know it!). It was a quick lesson for us and we found it difficult more difficult than we expected. But it was enough to spark the idea of continuing it back at home!

TIP: Want to spend the night out dancing salsa? Try out this popular spot that locals regular: Grand Mambo Cafe!
